How to turn off crossplay in Modern Warfare 2
Modern Warfare 2 has crossplay to allow players to engage with players across various platforms, but if you’re not interested in doing this, our guide will help you turn it off.
The last few years have been pretty solid for gaming, and Call of Duty has been a great beneficiary of this positive change. Modern Warfare 2 has carried on this trend by providing fans with competition across all platforms in the form of crossplay.
Adding in the opportunity to face off against enemies from different consoles and formats widens the player pool and makes matchmaking easier.
Not everyone is on board with this concept though, especially as it can make games tougher for console players having to contend with the precision-like aiming of a keyboard and mouse player.

Turning off crossplay in Modern Warfare 2
We should clarify before anything else that you can only turn off crossplay if you’re on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, as Xbox and PC users have to have the feature enabled in Modern Warfare 2.
If you are a PlayStation user, then you’ll need to carry out some routine steps to do it:
- In the main menu, head to the game’s Settings.
- Now select Account & Network from the tabs.
- You should see an option that reads “Crossplay and Crossplay Communication”.
- Simply pick the option that says Disable, and Crossplay will now be turned off.
If you change your mind at any point or find your matchmaking wait time is taking a bit longer than you’d like, then simply repeat these steps but click Enable at the end.
