Modern Warfare 2 Killstreaks are invaluable tools to give you an edge during a game, and if you’re not adept at killing, then you can change them to Scorestreaks.

If you want to land some high-scoring games dropping a ton of kills in the process, then you’re going to need all the tools at your disposal in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

One element of CoD’s gameplay that can help you post some outrageous figures are Killstreaks – powerful and intrusive abilities designed to disrupt the opposition, take them down, and even provide your team with much-needed reconnaissance.

They can range from user-controlled Cruise Missiles to game-ending MGB Nukes that can instantly win a game.

To acquire greater and more powerful Killstreaks though, you need to rack up consecutive kills without dying, and the more devastating the streak, the more kills are required of you. If teamwork and alternative methods of contributing are your bread and butter, then you might want to switch them to Scorestreaks instead.

Switching Killstreaks to Scorestreaks in Modern Warfare 2

The act of switching your streak acquisition preference is a very simple one that takes place in the Killstreak menu tab when you’re not wrapped in a game of Modern Warfare 2.

To do this, simply carry out the following instructions:

  1. Access the Modern Warfare 2 online main menu.
  2. Shift across to the Weapons tab.
  3. Now, select Killstreaks.
  4. Once you’ve done that, press the R2 button on PlayStation, RT on Xbox, or the assigned keybind on PC.
  5. Doing so will signify a change and each Killstreak will now display points needed instead of kills.

Doing this makes it entirely feasible to complete in-game objectives such as capturing flags and still have a chance of obtaining top-tier streaks.

If you want to go back to Killstreaks, all you have to do is go through the steps again and press the final button once more.
