One of Treyarch’s devs has confirmed that Custom Blueprints will be savable soon and explained that players are able to select attachments that they haven’t officially unlocked.

Modern Warfare & Warzone debuted a hugely useful feature that allowed players to save the attachments they’d used for a weapon as a Custom Blueprint. It could then be applied to any applicable weapon and be a real time-saver.

Treyarch finally welcomed it into Cold War, but it got off to a rocky start as a problem was found with the system, and Treyarch has had to disable it for maintenance. It’s now back online, and players can mix and match attachments, but can’t save them as a Blueprint to use across all weapons.

One of Treyarch’s devs has reassured CoD players regarding its absence, and also answered a common question regarding the nature of Cold War’s Custom Blueprint system.

On April 9, Treyarch Tweeted out about the Custom Blueprint system going live in Cold War saying, “Mix and match attachments from Blueprints of the same weapon type to create your own custom Blueprints.”

It was taken down on the same day, before normal service was resumed 24hrs later.

With regards to saving Custom Mods, a post on the Black Ops Cold War subreddit looked to discuss this matter, with Treyarch dev Josh “FoxhoundFPS” Torres even providing an update.

He said, “Glad you were able to discuss this with Activision Support. This is intended functionality and will allow for Custom Blueprint Mods once we reactivate. Mixing and matching are encouraged where applicable.”

So it will be live again sometime soon, Treyarch just clearly needs time to make sure the process is working properly before reactivating it.

Gunsmith Customs allows locked attachments?

The original topic for discussion actually concerns how the game makes use of locked attachments for weapons.

Reddit user les-miserable-man said, “Correct me if I’m wrong, but you can now equip attachments that you haven’t unlocked yet. To test this, I purchased the “Entrenched” bundle from the store that included the “KGB Skeletal Stock” attachment for the AK-47. I can now equip this attachment to my base AK (not the Blueprint it came with from the store) even though I have not unlocked the base attachment?”

The user updated their own post saying that they had spoken to Activision confirming that “this is intended behavior.”

So if one of your weapons is Level 10, and you buy a bundle containing a Blueprint with a Level 40 attachment, you’ll be able to use that attachment now using the Gunsmith.

You should at least have time to find what works for you before Season 3 starts, and you can try and unlock more attachments anyway with the scheduled Double XP event to conclude Season 2.
