Cold War players want the C58 to be as powerful as Warzone’s
While the C58 is an incredibly powerful Assault Rifle in Call of Duty: Warzone, it leaves much to be desired in Black Ops Cold War. Fans are once again asking for it to receive a significant buff.
Black Ops Cold War and Warzone’s new C58 Assault Rifle quickly became a fan favorite in the battle royale. Although having a slow fire rate, it hits extremely hard, essentially making it a better version of the CR-56 AMAX.
However, it’s a different story in Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer, where its slow fire rate gives it an incredibly low time to kill. Frustrated with the massive difference between the versions, Cold War players are once again calling for the C58 to receive a substantial buff.
Both Season 4’s MG 82 and C58 made an immediate impact in Warzone, but less so in multiplayer. The MG 82’s high fire rate allows it to be used as a reasonably close-range LMG, but the C58’s small magazine and low fire rate make it poor compared to the other Assault Rifles.
Discussion about the imbalance between the two versions started in a Reddit post poking fun at the weak Cold War C58 compared to Warzone’s powerful version.
One user compared the C58 to the powerful AK-47, saying that it’s just an AK “with a lower fire rate.” Another player chimed in, saying that “there’s absolutely no purpose of using the C58 when you have the AK.”
User jerseytiger1980 dialed in on the problem with the C58, saying that it “gets outgunned under 20m by subs and over 30m by faster firing ARs. It just doesn’t seem to have a purpose.”
Other players compared the situation to the FFAR 1’s. When Cold War first launched, the FFAR was incredibly powerful but soon received a substantial nerf that rendered it almost useless. However, in Warzone, it was one of the most overpowered meta weapons the game has seen.
Black Ops Cold War Season 4 Reloaded arrives on July 15, and it’s set to bring the highly-anticipated Mauer Der Toten Zombies map. We also expect there to be some weapon balance tweaks, which may bring the C58 in line with its Warzone counterpart.
