Notable industry insider Tom Henderson, who accurately leaked a ton of information about Battlefield 2042, has received a tip-off that “internal delays” have caused the lack of announcements, including Beta dates.

Battlefield fans have grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of announcements for Battlefield 2042. We have a ton of information about the game including its backstory, Specialists, and mechanics, but fans are desperate to see, or preferably get their hands on, raw gameplay.

Along with the Battlefield Portal announcement, DICE confirmed that 2042’s Open Beta will occur in September. Notable leaker Tom Henderson understood that we’d hear more about the Beta in early September but now believes that new information has made this unlikely.

Tom Henderson tweeted on August 30 that “we should finally hear something on [Battlefield 2042] between August 31st – September 2nd.”

He then followed up this tweet saying that “This time frame is increasingly looking like it’s not true.” One of Henderson’s contacts, who he has trusted for the past several years and has “always been upfront with everything,” gave him an update on 2042’s progress.

The contact explained that from what they have heard, “there have been some internal delays with Battlefield 2042 that could explain the lack of announcements on the game.”

The source did clarify that they’re “not sure what those delays entail, but it’s believed that it’s not having an effect on the release schedule.” So, even though the Beta and any other announcements may have been delayed, it sounds like 2042 is still on track for its October 22 release.

The source told Henderson, “If I hear anything I will let you know, but things are very hush hush at the moment.” He then concluded that “the consensus is no one knows what’s going on.”
