Baldur’s Gate 3 is full of secrets to unveil, and while a lot of players have already amassed an incredible amount of gameplay hours, some are still discovering the basics. Now, players have revealed a bunch of useful mechanics easily missed by most BG3 fans.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has the players brimming with excitement as they explore Faerûn and discover the many secrets the game has to offer. But the Sword Coast is a treacherous place, even for the most veteran adventurers, so having an extra trick under your sleeves could definitely make the difference.

During this perilous journey, players have discovered that many mechanics have more than one usage, and a lot of them can be easily missed. Some of these usages are hidden in plain sight, while others require a little bit of “thinking out of the box.”

Here’s what the community is saying about these hidden mechanics and a list of the most curious ones that could help you during your gameplay.

Reddit user ‘Arkakin’ posted this on Reddit: “What mechanics you found out a bit too late?” and it immediately sparked a discussion about some of the Baldur’s Gate 3 mechanics you should have known how to take advantage of.

For the OP, it was the fact you can actually teleport to any waypoint in the map without needing to run towards the specific teleport waypoint: “For me, it’s that instead of having to the portal each time I wanted to tp, I could simply click on the waypoint in the map from literally anywhere and I’d still get teleported there anyways.”

Another player also shared a useful trick to save weapon coatings: “I can throw coatings at camp, creating a coating puddle, and let all companions dip their weapons into the puddle, the coat will last till long rest.”

Regarding spellcasting tips, a Baldur’s Gate 3 player discovered this too late: “You can preview vision cones by holding down Shift. Don’t really wanna think about how many times I wasted an action hiding only to get bumped out immediately.”

If you are still struggling to figure out some of the trickiest mechanics in the game, here’s a full guide on how Pact of the Blade Works, and here’s some advice on how to craft Potions in Baldur’s Gate 3, with a list of all recipes available.
