Baldur’s Gate 3 offers many mysterious characters that players like to put to the test while traveling through Faerun. While Withers used to intrigue players with his apparent immortality, a fan managed to discover a little more about him.

Baldur’s Gate 3 introduces, during Act 1, a mysterious character called Withers, who offers his services to revive dead companions and even get hirelings for fully customized parties. Thanks to cryptic dialogue lines and other conversations with other characters, players quickly discover that the “bone man” is seemingly immortal.

This hasn’t stopped Baldur’s Gate 3 fans from putting his powers to the test, and they tried everything to get him to initiate combat and even kill him. But besides getting Withers from mocking them, there seemed to be no way of killing him despite having 1 Health Point.

However, a resilient player managed to find a loophole for doing so and shared with Reddit what happened after draining his INT stat. “I thought he couldn’t be killed. Used Ability Drain to reduce his INT to 0 and he died. We decided not to load and see how it impacts the ‘gathering’ speech. After a long rest his loot turned into a pouch. Guess he’s not coming back,” described Redditor ‘Caphill.’

Baldur’s Gate 3 players were quick to draw some theories and started to wonder if this had been purposefully included in-game or was just a bug. “This makes sense, with an Intelligence of 0 he probably forgot how to resurrect himself. He’ll be back once he remembers,” joked user ‘Dull_Selection1699.’

Since Withers is an essential part of Baldur’s Gate 3‘s epilogue, most users asked the OP to report back what happens after reaching the end of the game. Others also wondered what would happen to any Hireling since they are recruited through Withers’ powers. “Imagine being one and now you don’t have a ride home,” user ‘Listening_Heads’ pointed out.

Fans were amazed that somebody had managed to kill the mysterious “bone man” and thought that the OP’s accomplishment would quickly turn viral since it’s impossible to know how this could affect Baldur’s Gate 3 narrative. “Going to guess the dinner party is canceled. But the final scene? I wonder if this is unplanned, and he’ll still be there,” concluded Redditor ‘PChopSammies.’

And that’s everything about how a Baldur’s Gate 3 player finally managed to kill Withers. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, you can check what is the secret identity of the Phase Spider Matriarch or what wild tadpole plothole players have discovered.
