Baldur’s Gate 3 players delighted with leaked hug option: “Never been this excited”

Larian Studios have been constantly updating Baldur’s Gate 3 with patches and hotfixes that not only fix existing bugs but also add new features and story tweaks. The latest patch for the game, for instance, allows you to customize Hirelings right when you recruit them, among other fixes.
Now, as per a Baldur’s Gate 3 player on Reddit named BusinessContent9507, Larian might be adding the option to hug your companions in a future update. They shared a picture of some unused in-game dialogues that have been datamined. It reveals dialogues supposedly from Shadowheart for when you hug her.
For instance, one of the leaked dialogue options that Shadowheart makes when she is hugged in Baldur’s Gate 3 is: “Finally, I thought I’d never get a hug out of you.” Users on the thread were absolutely delighted at the possibility. “I have never been this excited for hugs to be added to a game before,” a Redditor added.
From the dialogue options, it seems that you can only hug someone with whom you have an active romance. As such, one player suggested: “Let me hug my companions as a friend! At least when they are in a deep pit of despair.”
Many Baldur’s Gate 3 players were miffed that they might not be able to hug Shadowheart after her life-changing moment at Shadowfell. One player added, “This is the one that killed me most. She’s having a breakdown and I can’t hug her?”
Some were disappointed that they might not be able to hug Astarion after he has a life-altering experience. Based on the dialogue, one player speculated that this could mean repeated hugs, similar to how kissing works. Fans have been requesting this feature for a long time, and it appears Larian have taken notice.
Baldur’s Gate 3 players often request new features or changes for the game, while new updates occasionally come with some highly-requested changes. For instance, some players have been asking for a “final party” feature to wrap up the story. Meanwhile, the latest update altered the appearance of some weapons in response to popular demand.
