Apex Legends dev confirms 1v1s are returning to Firing Range
Apex Legends players were furious about the Season 14 changes that kept them from facing each other in the Firing Range, but the developers have confirmed that 1v1s will return.
Pro player ‘Resultuh’ called for the developers to bring Gold Knockdown Shields back to the Firing Range. In response, Senior Producer Josh Medina tweeted: “Nah, but we are fixing it so you can 1v1 again in FR.”
During 1v1s, the Gold Knockdown Shield’s Self-Revive ability would allow Apex Legends players to easily get back up or switch Legends and keep their loadouts. Its removal from the Firing Range made it impossible for players to do this.
The reason for this decision was that the Gold Knockdown Shield has been an extremely controversial item. During high-ranked games, multiple players could use it to secure wins unfairly.
While the developers have made it clear that there are no plans to bring it back to the Firing Range, it’s reassuring to know that they’re trying to make it possible for players to 1v1 each other again.
At the time of writing, Respawn Entertainment hasn’t revealed more information about what changes they’re making or when they’ll be implemented. Hopefully, they will arrive in the game soon.
