Respawn Entertainment have officially detailed their plans for Apex Legends Season 16, as the devs confirm that the update will not introduce a new Legend.

Apex Legends Season 16 is set to arrive on February 14, Valentine’s Day, which the Date Night LTM should get players in the mood for. The new season will bring fresh content to the game, and a huge update to various aspects of the battle royale.

The most interesting piece of content players receive each season is the new Legend, however, Apex Legends Season 16 will be going against the trend. Respawn have officially confirmed that the update will not be introducing a new character to the roster.

No new Legend in Apex Legends Season 16

It’s official, Apex Legends Season 16 will not feature a new Legend, and the devs explained why during a press event for the new update.

The reason Apex Legends Season 16 will not feature a new Legend is that the devs feel the game has evolved a lot since release, with “15 new Legends, 4 new maps, dozens of events, and weapons.” They also feel the player base has grown greatly, and the game has changed a lot.

Therefore, they feel that the Season 16 update should focus on evolving the “core gameplay experience to better match where players are today,” instead of just introducing a new Legend.

So, with that said, the devs have announced that Season 16 will instead overhaul the Legend Class system and introduce a variety of balance changes.

Apex Legends Season 16 Legend Class overhaul & balance changes

The devs have confirmed that all Legends will be tweaked in Apex Legends Season 16 through a Class overhaul which brings new Class Perks to the game.

Apex Legends Season 16 will introduce five new classes:

  • Assault – Mad Maggie, Ash, Bangalore, Revenant, & Fuse
  • Skirmisher – Valkyrie, Wraith, Mirage, Horizon, Octane, & Pathfinder
  • Recon – Crypto, Seer, Vantage, & Bloodhound
  • Controller – Catalyst, Rampart, Caustic, & Wattson
  • Support – Lifeline, Newcastle, Gibraltar, & Loba

Respawn feel these new five classes define each Legend’s roles and gameplay more clearly, with Perks to compliment.

The Apex Legends Season 16 update will also bring balance changes to a variety of Legends, including Wraith, Lifeline, and Seer.

As soon as we can provide more information regarding the Perks that each of these classes provides, as well as the full balance changes coming for Legends, we’ll be sure to update this piece so stay tuned.
