XDefiant fans are desperate for any news Ubisoft can offer about its release date but now players think it’s close after the in-game currency hit the Xbox Store.

XDefiant is Ubisoft’s free-to-play arena shooter with a focus on competitive play. Those who tried the betas absolutely loved the game and were disappointed to hear its October release had been delayed indefinitely.

Ubisoft then confirmed in their fiscal report that XDefiant is set to launch before March 31, 2024, but according to reliable insider Tom Henderson, it’s not quite set in stone. He said, “It ultimately depends on whether higher-ups want to add some last-minute feature that breaks the current build and delays it again.”

Now, on February 16, players started to notice that XDefiant’s in-game currency ‘XCoins’ were for sale on the Microsoft store. The only bundle available was 500 XCoins for $4.49 and was bundled with the XDefiant Open Session with the release date marked as October 2023. However, the XCoins appear to have now been removed from the Microsoft Store.

Even though removed, many players are taking it as a sign that XDefiant is coming very soon. “This can only mean that release is getting closer,” said one Reddit user. “Only 500 coins is available but release has gotta be soon,” echoed ‘Arctic_Reigns. “They did say no shadow drop though but maybe get an announcement early next week?”

Over on X, YouTuber ‘Jonnyy’ said, “We are SOOO close to getting this beautiful game” alongside a picture of XDefiant. When another user in the replies said the coins were from last year, they replied, “But why would they have put the coins in the shop for a beta where no cosmetics or battle passes were available?”

Either way, it sounds like XDefiant’s release date could be close but with no official word from the developers, there’s no saying for sure.

Recently, the party system was causing issues and then executive producer Mark Rubin said on January 27 that they were “doing some private tests to verify all the work that we did in the last few months” and “so far things are going well, and we are all as eager to go live as you.”
