Treyarch announce Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play for 2023
Modern Warfare 2 will offer a competitive Ranked Play experience and Treyarch are in charge of bringing the mode to players in 2023.
An official Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play mode was teased at the Call of Duty Next event way back in September. With Modern Warfare 2’s record-breaking launch now a thing of the past, details concerning Ranked Play are beginning to emerge.
As with most Call of Duty titles, Ranked Play was always expected to arrive as a post-launch addition. Fans of the CDL and competitive Call of Duty will be pleased to discover that Treyarch are handling Modern Warfare 2’s iteration of Ranked Play, and the devs have revealed when to expect the mode.
When is Ranked Play coming to Modern Warfare 2?
It seems players won’t have to wait long as Ranked Play is expected to hit Modern Warfare 2 in 2023. Ranked Play won’t be ready for Season 1 which is set to commence on November 16.
All eyes will be on Warzone 2 when the Season 1 update rolls around, which will allow Ranked Play to have its moment in the spotlight following the turn of the new year. While the date for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 has yet to be announced, it’s expected to arrive in early 2023.
This could be the perfect opportunity for the launch of Modern Warfare 2’s Ranked Play as the competitive mode will likely arrive alongside a major update. We’ll let you know if Ranked Play is expected to come to Modern Warfare 2 before then.
According to Treyarch, fans of Ranked Play can expect ranked Skill Divisions, visible Skill Ratings, competitive rewards, and the opportunity to play competitive modes.
Treyarch have a ton of experience developing Ranked Play, as they most recently delivered Ranked Play to Vanguard. Although Vanguard’s multiplayer failed to impress, many players stuck with Ranked Play due to the quality of the mode.
While hopes are high for Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play, players will have to wait a little while longer before jumping into the competitive mode.
In the meantime, Treyarch confirmed that a CDL Moshpit mode will arrive with Season 1 of Modern Warfare 2 on November 16. It remains to be seen what this mode will entail, but it’s safe to expect it to highlight the maps and modes of the Call of Duty League.
