Starfield players feel that the game is set to receive a major update sometime soon after the game received multiple background updates in a short span of time.

In Starfield, players can traverse the vast expanse of the universe and explore multiple planets spread out across different galaxies. While a decent number of planets are inhabited, there are a lot that are empty.

At launch, the developers had mentioned that Starfield would support mods, and just like Skyrim, the game would have its own Creation Kit.

Over the past few days, players have been noticing that the game has received multiple updates in the background after the latest patch, which has caused them to believe that Starfield will soon be receiving the Creation Kit update.

Player ‘OkPain2022’ took to Reddit to share their findings with other players within the community. They were curious to know why the game received 20 background updates since the last major patch.

One player responded to OP and said, “Creation Kit.” ‘Th3Morningst4r’ replied to this comment and said, “I doubt it but imma admit, I’m wishing for CK too.”

For context, the Creation Kit is a software package for Starfield that will allow players to make mods easily. Not just that, this kit allows mod distribution on consoles as well.

The developers are testing an unknown app for Starfield, as indicated on the Steam.db page. Although there’s not much information about it and so there’s a chance it could be the Creation Kit itself.

‘Outlaw19901’ commented, “IF so, it’s not a good sign. Elminster (xedit dev) said they needed time to fix the archive architecture for long-term mod support. Meaning, the quicker they release the CK, the more likely it is that they didn’t fix anything.”

Another Redditor replied to the comment and said, “Interesting to hear he said that. Fits with my position that it was rushed out the door because the Creation Engine 2 and Covid-19 took too much time from development.”

As of now, there’s no estimated date of arrival for the Starfield Creation Kit update. However, once it’s live, players on consoles will also be able to enjoy the modded experience of this space-faring RPG.
