RICOCHET anti-cheat is currently live in Call of Duty: Vanguard after the global release of the kernel-level driver was announced at the start of Season 3.
When RICOCHET anti-cheat debuted in Warzone, the kernel-level driver was exclusive to the battle royale. Vanguard players have been frustrated with the lack of a proper anti-cheat since launch, but all that is set to change as RICOCHET is now live in Vanguard as well.
The arrival of a full-fledge RICOCHET at the start of Vanguard Season 3 could not have come at a better time considering Ranked Play has seen its fair share of cheaters running rampant since the mode was released.
RICOCHET anti-cheat’s backend security features were already present in Vanguard, but the kernel-level driver had been exclusive to Warzone up until now.
Luckily for Vanguard players, not only is the PC kernel-level anti-cheat security driver now active in Vanguard, but it is also bringing along all of the previous upgrades made to the driver since its initial release.
The Call of Duty team claim that having RICOCHET active in Vanguard will impact the Ranked Play Leaderboard as bans continue to roll out, “If someone is banned for cheating, they will be deleted from the leaderboard.” This will also impact the Warzone Leaderboards.
On top of all the previous ways RICOCHET could detect and punish cheaters, Warzone and Vanguard will now benefit from an additional method called Cloaking. The RICOCHET team explains that with Cloaking, “players that are detected to be cheating can find themselves unable to see opposing players in the game world.”
This technique is very similar to the previously described Damage Shield, but with Cloaking, “Characters, bullets, even sound from legitimate players will be undetectable to cheaters. Legitimate players, however, can see cheaters impacted by cloaking.”
According to the RICOCHET team, they’ve managed to ban 50,000 cheaters since their last update in February. Hopefully, with a full-fledged version of RICOCHET now in Vanguard, you can get back to gaming in peace, especially in Vanguard Season 3 Ranked Play.
