Pokemon Scarlet & Violet player shocked to find level 100 shiny Magikarp in DLC

Fans of the Pokemon franchise are sparing no effort to complete their journey through the Kitakami Island in the Teal Mask DLC of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. With several new as well as returning species to capture, the Pokemon community is constantly on their toes to catch ’em all!
However, a player came across a jaw-dropping Pokemon discovery that stunned everyone else and has become the talk of the town.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet player can’t believe level 100 shiny Magikarp is in the DLC
As shared by user ‘Urias0’ on Reddit, the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player couldn’t believe their luck when a level 100 shiny Magikarp made an appearance in the Teal Mask DLC.
The post read, “so apparently that’s a thing” and caught the attention of several DLC players, some of whom were equally surprised at the rare encounter.
A fellow player’s comment highlighted that even the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet main game didn’t have a level 100 Pokemon in the wild: “In the base game, the highest leveled Pokémon is a Tera Lucario at Lv. 75 in Dalizapa Passage.”
Others added, “I was shocked, I remember running into Glimmora and Lampent at 78 and 86 respectively” as well as “I found a Pokemon (Lampent) at 86.”
This seemingly proves that level 86 was the highest possible until the OP found the level 100 Magikarp.
But users were in for another pleasant surprise when some revealed that a level 100 Pokemon can be evolved. This is especially special in Magikarp’s case as it evolves into the powerful Gyarados.
A player wrote, “If you give a level 100 Pokémon a rare candy it’ll evolve” as another chimed in that this mechanic “only happened last gen, actually.”
But perhaps most importantly, many were curious about where the OP made this rare discovery. The OP obliged by sharing a screenshot of the location on the map and added “here in the pond, go where the flag is and you’ll find one!”
The Pokemon CompanyFinally, one player also mentioned their experience of finding a level 100 Magikarp at the same spot: “I found the shiny Magikarp near the start of the map at random after starting.”
