Pokemon Scarlet & Violet fans mock devs for “most useless feature” in the franchise
Game FreakPokemon Scarlet & Violet players discovered that the game settings menu had the option to skip cutscenes, but soon found out that it didn’t work as they expected.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is the latest iteration in the Pokemon franchise, which takes players on a journey through Paldea, a region loosely inspired by Spain. The games have incredible scenery to explore, and a good deal of cinematics with panoramic views.
As players revisit Pokemon Scarlet & Violet for multiple playthroughs, one has noticed a frustrating aspect of the games.
It seems the ‘Skip Cutscenes’ setting in the S&V menu doesn’t allow players to truly skip the majority of cutscenes in the game.
The player wanted to replay the game without all those cutscenes blocking them from the action, but it seems, Game Freak have a different point of view regarding this feature.
Reddit user ‘Lvl_XXiii’ soon found out that the ‘Skip Cutscenes’ feature in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet doesn’t truly help with skipping cutscenes, as they called it “the most useless feature in these games.”
Another user commented on this by saying that: “They really want you to watch EVERYTHING, no turning off animation for you.”
The roasting didn’t stop there, as user ‘Amaee’ had a very similar experience: “I just started a new game on Sunday night and had this same horrific realization. Every scene was still playing, and I checked my settings three times before turning to google and seeing that apparently there’s only three to four scenes that count for this!”
Game Freak, and Nintendo in particular, are infamous for their long cutscenes with a lot of dialogue.
In the meantime, Gamefreak is preparing to release Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s first DLC: The Teal Mask, and if you are wondering what new Pokemon are included, we’ve got you covered.
