For those Pokemon Go players who are waiting eagerly for the Carnival of Love event, there is some great news about a possible synergy with the Lunar New Year: Dragons Unleashed event. A player has found a method to maximize XL candy gains and has shared it with TheSilphRoad Reddit community.
If done correctly, this method would drastically increase the XL Candy gains, ensuring that many Pokemon trainers who are eagerly waiting to get their preferred species to the maximum level, will be able to finally realize that dream.
This was shared by user ‘Ben2749’ in TheSilphRoad Pokemon Go Reddit community, as they stated: “Start preparing NOW for the ‘2 XL Candy when evolving’ bonus during the Carnival of Love event!”
The OP proceeded to explain that many of the rarest Dragon-type species are coming to Pokemon Go during the Dragon’s Unleashed Lunar New Year event, and that means that trainers looking to maximize their XL Candy gains when the Carnival of Love starts should follow this procedure:
- Catch all the Dragon-type species that need 25 candies to evolve.
- Prioritize those you want to get XL Candy from and keep them in your Storage.
- Farm regular candy and unevolved species from February 5 to February 11. Use Pinap Berries to fasten the process.
- During Carnival of Love (February 13 to February 15), evolve the saved dragon species, and you will obtain 2 XL candies for each 25 candy spent.
According to this player: “That’s a rate of 12.5 to 1, which is 8 times more cost-effective than the normal conversion rate of 100 to 1.”
