Pokemon Go players fed up with daily PokeCoin limit call for change

PokeCoins in Pokemon Go

PokeCoins are the in-game currency for the popular mobile game Pokemon Go, and players can obtain a certain amount of coins per day. But some players tired of this mechanic proposed a few alternatives to improve it.

Pokemon Go players have tired themselves of the farming system for PokeCoins that Niantic has sustained since launch. Now, some of the players in the Reddit community have offered some alternatives to this.

The daily limit of PokeCoin yield was not always like it is today. In the beginning, you could get 10 PokeCoins per Gym, up to a daily maximum of 100 PokeCoins total. But since launch, this has changed, and now, the game only allows for a 50-limit to farm per day.

One of the main disadvantages of this system is that players have no control over when their Pokemon comes back or not. It could be staying there for five minutes and yielding a few coins, or staying there for years without a rival team player targeting it.

Pokemon Go players suggest change to daily PokeCoin limit

And so, a group of Pokemon players has pointed out that the Gym-Coin system should be changed, with one of them proposing that there should be a ‘global’ limit for weekly PokeCoin, allowing players to earn them all in a day or two if their Pokemon holds control of the Gym for that long.

One of the players said: “Instead of 50 coins max/day, if the Pokemon returns, it should be 350 coins max/week. I work from home, so I don’t go out often during the week.”

This echoes the complaints of many of the players that can’t do a daily ‘Gym Tour’ to farm coins. Others proposed: “I do wish we could get 50 a day per day that Pokemon is in a gym. Alternatively, a higher daily limit would be nice.”

But the thing is, that Pokemon Go’s main revenue system comes from microtransactions, and raising the limit of coins that players can earn per day could unbalance the in-game economy and end up being detrimental to the game.

It would be interesting if Niantic offered an alternative for the players, like the ability to obtain extra PokeCoins with the daily bonus per catch or PokeStop spins, or maybe as a completion reward for the new Routes feature.

For the moment, we don’t think that the Pokemon Go devs will change this, but we will keep you informed if any of the wishes of the player community end up being a reality. In the meantime, you can consult our Spotlight Event Schedule for August, and also, the upcoming Noxious Swamp Event Guide.
