Pokemon Go player frustrated with high CP encounter that turns out to be “garbage”

Pokemon Go players go way beyond their limits to catch the rarest and strongest species. But what happens when your best catch turns out to be “garbage?” Here’s what the community suggested.

Pokemon Go players would do anything for a rare or strong Pokemon. Most of the time, events like the Festival of Lights offer great chances for them to catch a lot of featured species, but to be lucky enough to encounter a perfect hundo, or even better, a shundo, is a rare occurrence.

So it is no wonder that this Pokemon Go player was filled with disappointment after encountering an extremely high CP Pokemon, and finding out that it was not what they were expecting.

For user HayesHD who shared their experience on Reddit, having a high CP Slaking spawning was an exciting occassion. Shortly after, the “judge” feature in Pokemon Go revealed that this Pokemon was a “0-star,” meaning, a low stats specimen.

High Level CP Slaking in Pokemon Go shared on Reddit
Slaking is one of the Pokemon that reaches the highest CP in the game.

HayesHD shared their experience with the community: “No doubt the highest CP wild Pokemon I have encountered and it’s garbage! lol” To which a player quickly responded by saying: “It’s always like that. High cp. Difficult to catch and then sh**y ivs.”

Some trainers suggested that this Pokemon can still be of use: “It’s a zero investment gym holder! Looks good to me!” While another one said: “You can still drop it in gyms. It’s not good but it’s also a 0-investment.”

Another player suggested that the best choice might be to save this Slaking for special trades: “Save it for trade maybe? That’s my go-to with high cp low iv mons.” If HayesHD saves this Pokemon for a lucky trade, they might be able to turn it into a 3-star Pokemon, or a hundo if they are lucky enough.

Sadly, Pokemon Go doesn’t really allow trainers to do much for their partners, except maybe feed them incredible amounts of Stardust and Candy. So having a high CP Pokemon doesn’t usually mean that it is strong, only that its level is high.
