The May 7, 2021 update for Warzone made some major changes to the Call of Duty battle royale, but it looks as though an unintended change regarding the Minigun made its way through into Season 3.

The Minigun was once a rare weapon that players could acquire in Warzone and mow down multiple enemies thanks to its high fire and large ammo count rate. However, the Minigun was eventually removed from the game, and players could no longer acquire the powerful weapon.

The absence of the Minigun in Warzone was unexpectedly ended on May 7, 2021, when Raven Software applied the most recent update for the Call of Duty battle royale, as players began to report that they were getting the Minigun from loot boxes on Verdansk ’84 and Rebirth Island.

Following the application of the May 7 update for Warzone, members of the community began to discuss how they were now able to find the MInigun in supply boxes when playing. It was at first unclear if this was an intended decision by Raven Software or if it something unintended that resulted from the most recent Warzone update.

Raven Software soon updated their official Trello board for issues that they are investigating with the game and stated they were investigating the Minigun spawning from supply boxes on Verdansk ’84 and Rebirth Island.

This confirmed that the Minigun was not supposed to make a return in Season 3.

The Warzone developer went on to post an announcement on its Twitter account that it had applied a playlist update to the Call of Duty battle royale that should prevent the Minigun from spawning in supply boxes but asked players to let them know if the Minigun return issue was still persisting following the playlist update.

While the return of the Minigun in Warzone Season 3 was not supposed to happen, there are sure to be some players who took advantage and were able to have some fun with the powerful weapon before Raven Software pushed the playlist update to stop the Minigun from spawning.

Unfortunately for these players, it looks as though the unexpected return of the Minigun in Warzone Season 3 was a short-lived experience for the community.
