The developers behind Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact are ready to captivate gacha fans worldwide with Zenless Zone Zero. If you’re excited to play the upcoming action title with your friends, here’s everything we know about whether Zenless Zone Zero has multiplayer or co-op.

HoYoverse has already solidified its place as one of the best gacha developers out there. In the past few years, both Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact have gathered millions of players and the expectations from Zenless Zone Zero are unsurprisingly sky-scraping.

Although Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact are quite similar in terms of their gacha mechanics, there are major differences in the storyline, open world, and setting. Similarly, Zenless Zone Zero will allow you to get characters and weapons through a gacha system but it has a completely unique story and combat.

Genshin Impact incorporates co-op and multiplayer gameplay as well, so let’s see if Zenless Zone Zero follows a similar path.

Zenless Zone Zero is a free-to-play title like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail.

Is there multiplayer or co-op in Zenless Zone Zero?

HoYoverse are yet to confirm if Zenless Zone Zero has multiplayer or co-op. Based on the developers’ past and the fact that we don’t know a lot about the game’s setting or features, it’s hard to rule out any possibilities right now.

Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd, two of HoYoverse’s biggest projects to date, have proper multiplayer modes that let you enter each other’s worlds. This is similar to co-op in other prominent titles like Diablo 4, and it shouldn’t be a surprise if Zenless Zone Zero arrives with something similar.

On the flip side, Honkai Star Rail is a purely single-player experience as you can only make in-game friends to use characters.

ZZZ’s official description says ‘explore hallows with your squad.’ This could either be a hint to multiplayer/co-op elements or could simply be a reference to solo squad-building features that we’ve already seen in Genshin Impact.
