Another scrapped Gen 2 Pokemon has been leaked, and Pokemon fans are shocked by its unique and eerie design. Some players think it would have been a great addition to the Gold & Silver roster, while others have their doubts about its design.

During the development of a game, there’s often content that never makes it to the final cut. In this case, a scrapped Pokemon that would have been present in Pokemon Gold & Silver has made its appearance on the internet.

An X user called DrLavaYT shared the design of a scrapped Pokemon from the Generation 2 games with the community. The design was so atypical to what players are used to seeing in recent Pokemon games, that it left players shocked.

According to DrLavaYT, the “scorpion Pokemon was scrapped around 1998, during Gen2’s development,” and “may have ultimately become Gligar or Skorupi, or might’ve been totally independent.”

The leak didn’t include the name of this scorpion-like Pokemon, but some users are already speculating about its type and even the reasons why it got scrapped from the Gen 2 final roster.

Pokemon players’ opinions about this scrapped Pokemon are divided between acceptance and rejection. Some think this Pokemon would have been “kinda badass,” and others qualify its design as “a generic RPG monster.”

One of the users answered: “Looks Steel/Poison, it could have been the 1st but we had to wait 7 gens for that.” They likely based their analysis on the fact that its steel-like body design looks similar to that of Skarmory, one of the few Gen 2 Steel types.

Another of the comments suggests a reason why this Pokemon might have been scrapped from the Gen 2 roster: “I think he’s just too oddly scary, even most of the spooky mons have elements to make them less threatening but his sprite is just creepy.”

Ultimately, this Gen 2 scrapped scorpion Pokemon never saw the light of day, like Pudi and Mikon, the baby forms of Vulpix and Growlithe, and many other scrapped designs that didn’t reach the final product.

In any case, most players are eagerly waiting for the new Pokemon that are going to be available in the upcoming DLCs for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

In the meantime, if you have more hunger for Pokemon content and info, you can learn how many Pokemon exist today, or if you are feeling nostalgic, you might want to know if you can play classic Pokemon Games on your Nintendo Switch.
