Dragon’s Dogma 2 features a disease that Pawns can catch, which could ruin your playthrough and complicate things. So, to keep you well informed, here’s how to detect & cure Dragonsplague in Dragon’s Dogma 2, as well as what happens if you don’t act fast.

The world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be tough, but giant creatures like orcs aren’t the biggest threats out there. Capcom’s latest features a plague mechanic called Dragonsplague, which affects Pawns and can ruin an entire playthrough if not treated correctly.

Here’s all you need to know about the Dragonsplague disease in Dragon’s Dogma 2, including how to cure it and detect it on time, as well as what happens if you let it manifest.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dragonsplague explained

Dragonsplague is a new mechanic that can have a real blow on your adventures in Dragon’s Dogma 2. It can only be inflicted on Pawns, not your main character class, and doesn’t appear on the status screen meaning you can miss it very easily.

The sickness afflicts Pawns who have fought a Dragon or a Drake in the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2, as well as companions who come into our world and already have this on them. Newly transferred Pawns from another world that have Dragonsplague can spread the illness to others.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to cure Dragonsplague

To cure Dragonsplague in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you can either forfeit the Pawn or send the infected Pawn to another player’s playthrough.

Taking a look at the forfeiting method, this is done by making sure your Pawn’s hit points go to zero during battle and not reviving them. This essentially means they are dead, removing the Dragonsplague, and then allowing you to bring them back to life via a Riftstone.

The sending the Pawn to another Dragon’s Dogma 2 game method is one that you have a little less control over as your Main Pawn can only be sent across if someone hires them. Other Pawns aren’t affected by this though which is great. Once your Pawn does visit another game world, it will pass the Dragonsplague infection onto someone in that world, curing themselves in the process.

If you are going down the sending Pawns to other playthroughs route, you’ll obviously make it a much faster process if your Pawns look like they’re both strong and have the abilities to aid them in what they require them for. This can take longer than the first method but can prevent any awkwardness in battle.

How to spot Dragonsplague affected Pawns

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Pawns that have a reddish shade in their eyes are affected by Dragonsplague, and this is the only way in-game to detect it and catch it on time.

The first time one of your Pawns is affected by Dragonsplague, an in-game popup tutorial will explain the basics of this sickness.

Pawns with Dragonsplague will also reproduce the following behaviors, helping players spot this disease:

  • Sometimes Pawns will grab their heads in pain, and even clutch for the players’ comfort.
  • Insubordination: Afflicted Pawns can disobey the D-pad commands from the player, and state it with phrases like: “Don’t tell me what to do!”

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Can Pawns die from Dragonsplague?

Pawns don’t die from Dragonsplague in Dragon’s Dogma 2, as dying and reviving at Riftstones is one of the best cure methods. If you don’t catch Dragonsplague on time, your Pawn will transform into a ferocious unstoppable Dragon that will kill every NPC in the town where you are resting.

This can seriously complicate things in your playthrough if the transformed Pawn kills a Main Quest NPC, so be careful and detect this disease on time.
