Best Ben build in Zenless Zone Zero

Ben Bigger in ZZZ

Ben Bigger is a unique defensive character in Zenless Zone Zero, and he’s someone you’ll want on your team when facing unstoppable waves of enemies or even boss fights. As the only purely defensive unit in the game, he’s a force to be reckoned with when built correctly.

If you’re planning to unlock this cyborg bear from Belobog Heavy Industries, check out his best build including his abilities, W-Engines, Drive Disc, and materials.

Best Ben build in Zenless Zone Zero

  • W-Engine: Big Cylinder, Spring Embrace
  • Drive Disc: Shockstar Disco, Swing Jazz
  • Team: Koleda, Soldier 11

Ben is a Fire Defense character who can deal high-impact blows. This build allows him to focus on damage absorption and Energy Regen, two stats that he’ll need when paired up with Koleda and Soldier 11.

While he might not be the fastest unit, his damage absorption is crucial when dealing with tricky enemies in long battles.

Ben abilities explained

  • Debt Reconciliation (Basic Attack): Unleashes up to 3 strikes, dealing Physical DMG.
  • Missing invoice (Dodge): A rapid dodge. Character is invulnerable while using this skill.
  • Incoming Expense (Dash Attack): Strikes enemies in front of him, dealing Physical DMG.
  • Accounts Settled (Dodge Counter): Strike enemies in front, dealing Fire DMG. Character is invulnerable while using this skill.
  • Fiscal Fist (Special Attack): The unit lifts his weapon, blocking the enemy’s attack before unleashing a forward strike, dealing Physical DMG. Successfully blocking an attack enhances the power of this skill and triggers Block Counter, dealing massive Physical DMG.
    • While in the Blocking stance, he gains a Shield that weakens over time. After leaving the blocking stance, the Shield is removed and recovers over time. The Shield cannot exceed 16% of his Max HP. The character is invulnerable when activating Block. Anti-Interrupt level is increased while launching strikes.
  • Cashflow Counter (EX Special Attack): With enough Energy, the character lifts his weapon, blocking the enemy’s attacks before unleashing a forward strike, dealing Fire DMG.
    • Successfully blocking an attack enhances the power of this skill and triggers Block Counter, dealing massive Fire DMG.
    • While in the Blocking stance, he gains a Shield that weakens over time. After leaving the blocking stance, the Shield is removed and recovers over time. The Shield cannot exceed 16 of his Max HP. When this skill is activated, the Shield is restored to its maximum value. After activating the skill, press again to follow up with a powerful forward strike, dealing massive Fire DMG. The character is invulnerable while launching strikes.
  • Signed and Sealed (Chain Attack): When a Chain Attack is triggered, it unleashes a powerful strike at enemies in front in a large area, dealing massive Fire DMG. Character is invulnerable while using this skill.
  • Complete Payback (Ultimate): When Decibel Rating is at Maximum, he unleashes a powerful strike at enemies in front in a large area, dealing massive Fire DMG. When activating the skill, additionally recover 3 Assist Points. Character is invulnerable while using this skill
  • Guardian (Core Passive): This character ATK is directly tied to his DEF, increasing by 40% of his own DEF. When he launches a follow-up attack during his EX Special Attack, he gains a Shield worth 15% of his DEF, lasting 30s.
  • Contractual Agreement (Additional Ability): When there are at least 2 Fire Agents in your squad, the character can hit an enemy with an EX Special Attack or Assist attack, and the anomaly Buildup dealt to the struck target is increased by 75%. When there are at least 2 Strike Agents in your squad, the Core Passive: Guardian will provide all squad members with a Shield.
  • Joint Account (Quick Assist): When the on-field character is launched, he strikes enemies in front, dealing Fire DMG. The character is invulnerable during the attack.

Ben Bigger base stats in ZZZ
These are Ben Bigger’s Lvl 1 base stats that you’ll need to build.

Best W-Engines

Big Cylinder

It reduces DMG taken up to 12%. After being attacked, the next action that hits an enemy will trigger a Critical Hit and Deal up to 960% of the equipper’s DEF as additional DMG. This W-Engine compliments his Passive, which ties his ATK with his DEF stats.

Spring Embrace

This W-Engine reduces DMG taken by 7.5% and improves the character’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 10% for 12 seconds after being attacked. Some consider that Spring Embrace works as the best W-Engine here, since he can focus on absorbing damage as a defensive character, especially when facing tougher bosses.

Original Transmorpher

The Original Transmorpher increases his Max HP by 8%, and his Impact by 10% for 12 seconds after being hit by an enemy. This W-Engine works similarly to the first two, and it’s a great alternative if you don’t manage to get the Big Cylinder for your best Ben build.

Best Drive Disc

Shockstar Disco

  • Two-piece set effect: Increases CRIT Rate by 8%.
  • Four-piece set effect: Triggering a Critical Hit with a Basic Attack, Dodge Counter or EX Special Attack increases the unit’s ATK by 9% for 6s. The buff duration for different skills is calculated separately.

Equipping Shockstar Disco helped me create a build that focuses on Impact, especially when I got him the Big Cylinder W-Engine. While his main job is to block and take DMG for the team, this combination will allow him to absorb any incoming attack and then deal a destructive counterattack with increased Crit Hit.

Soul Rock

  • Two-piece set effect: Increases DEF by 16%.
  • Four-piece set effect: Upon receiving an enemy attack and losing HP, the equipper takes 40% less DMG for 2.5s. This effect can trigger once every 15s.

If you want to go for the best Ben DEF build, getting him either the two or the four-piece Soul Rock set is the way to go. The four-piece is a great idea for longer fights with some tricky enemies that you can’t easily dodge.

Swing Jazz

  • Two-piece set effect: Energy Regen increases by 20%.
  • Four-piece set effect: Launching a Chain Attack or Ultimate increases all squad members’ DMG by 15% for 12s. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.

Last but not least, the two-piece Swing Jazz set can be combined nicely with the four-piece Soul Rock set. Since most builds revolve around the idea of him taking damage, buffing his core stat Energy Regen is the logical move to make this cyborg teddy bear last longer in boss fights.

Best Zenless Zone Zero teams for Ben

The best team composition to use is Koleda (Stun), and Soldier 11 (Attack). This mono-Fire team activates each character’s Core Skills.

I find that building Ben for extra Impact will greatly contribute to generating Daze as he provides Shields for the whole team, which will allow Koleda to focus her energy on targeting multiple objectives to stun. After that combo, Soldier 11 can swiftly strike down all dazed enemies in the area.
