How to use split screen in Fortnite

Fortnite introduced split-screen during Chapter 2 and the mode is only available on PlayStation and Xbox. Here’s how you can play in split screen:

  1. Launch Fortnite and head to the main lobby while on the main player’s account
  2. Turn on the second controller, and log into the second player’s account
  3. Press Triangle (PlayStation) or Y (Xbox) to log player two into the game
  4. Both players will then appear in the lobby
  5. You can now play the game in split screen

It’s important to note that this setting can only be used when playing Duos or Squads. Each player will have their own separate inventory of items when playing Fortnite in split screen mode. However, one of the major drawbacks of the mode is that the game session will end if just one of the two players gets disconnected.

Cutting your screen size in half can also limit what you see in the game, so you’ll need to ensure that you and your teammate’s communication and coordination are on point.

Did Fortnite remove split screen?

Yes, Fortnite temporarily disabled the split screen mode. The devs relayed the message through the FortniteStatus X account, stating that split screen has been disabled while they resolve a matchmaking issue.

It’s unclear how long it will take for the mode to return, and we’ll be sure to update this article once it goes live again.

Will Fortnite split screen come to PC & Nintendo Switch?

There is currently no news from Epic on whether split screen will come to Fortnite on Nintendo Switch and PC. Since the mode’s arrival on consoles, players on both platforms have been eager to try it out. However, the devs have provided no clue as to when the split screen will come to Switch and PC.

That was everything to know about the split screen mode in Fortnite. For more on the game, check out:
