Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 introduced a brand-new feature where players can ride animals across the island, so here are the animals you can catch a lift from and where to find them.

Following the epic Collision live event, Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 is here and there’s plenty of new content for players to get stuck into. There’s a host of fresh challenges to complete, as well as a jam-packed Battle Pass headlined by Darth Vader.

One of the most exciting features added in Season 3 is the ability to ride wild animals to quickly traverse the island. Players have been able to tame the beats for some time, but this new mechanic opens up even more useful possibilities.

We’ve broken down everything you need to know about riding animals in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3, from which animals you can hitch a ride with to where they are found.

Which animals can you ride in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3?

Wolf in Fortnite

There are currently only two different animals that can be ridden in Fortnite – wild boars and wolves.

It has been leaked in the past that you’ll be able to ride raptors, but the dinosaurs aren’t currently in the game. It remains to be seen if more animals will be added as the season progresses, but for now, these are the only two options.

Fortnite player riding wolf

In order to ride a wolf or boar in Fortnite, all you have to do is jump onto their back when you spot one out in the wild, and you’ll automatically begin riding it without having to press any buttons.

If you’re not careful when approaching them they might charge at you, which can make timing the jump a little tricky. But after a little practice, you’ll be able to grab a lift with ease.

Once you’ve successfully secured an animal, you can still aim and shoot your weapons or build structures, making them a useful tool for quickly moving to the next circle.

After a while, the animal will become tired and slow down. When this happens, you can replenish their stamina with food like apples or cabbages.

Where to find wolves and boars in Fortnite

Tracking down an animal ride isn’t always easy, but if you know where to look you can greatly increase your chances of finding one. They tend to stick in the wilderness between POIs, and they steer well clear of the desert section on the south of the island.

Wolves hunt in packs and lurk away from built-up areas, we’ve marked some notable spawns on the map below:

Meanwhile, boars are less afraid to wander closer to buildings. They tend to roam alone so they’re far easier to handle.

We’ll be sure to keep this page up to date with the types and locations of any more rideable animals that come as Season 3 unfolds.
