EA FC 24 TOTY is set to be one of the biggest events of the season.

The Team of the Year is often the most highly anticipated Ultimate Team event of the year, and this remains true for EA FC 24. Before the full squad arrives, here are our EA FC 24 TOTY predictions, to get you ready for what’s to come.

For Ultimate Team fans, the Team of the Year promo is often the pinnacle of the title’s cycle, and EA FC 24 will be no different. The EA FC 24 TOTY will honor the best football players over the last year, as the promo brings some of the highest-rated cards to the game.

Figuring out the Team of the Year is not as simple as discerning the Team of the Season, since the criteria is based on performances throughout 2023, which involves analyzing two halves of two different seasons.

Soon enough, fans will have the chance to vote for the EA FC 24 TOTY, but before voting opens, let’s take a look at our predictions for the Team of the Year squad.

Goalkeeper

GK: Marc Andre ter Stegen

In Barcelona’s 2023 title-winning season, the club only conceded an impressive 20 goals to opposition LaLiga teams. This defensive record was the best across Europe’s top five leagues and the club was two off from the LaLiga record of 18 goals conceded throughout a season.

Goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen was heavily responsible for his team’s defensive stability. The German keeper finished with the most clean sheets (27) across Europe. While Barcelona’s form has dipped slightly in the first half of the 2023/2024 season, ter Stegen remains a top performer.

Defenders

LB: Theo Hernandez
CB: Ruben Dias
CB: Virgil van Dijk
RB: Kyle Walker

Defensively, we could see plenty of surprises in the EA FC 24 TOTY. Theo Hernandez has matured like a fine wine at A.C. Milan. The left-back is approaching his prime and his performances in 2023 have not only proved that he’s Milan’s most important player, but they’ve also established him as one of the best LBs in the world.

The rest of the backline is likely to be dominated by Premier League players, and while we hear the shouts of Premier League bias, there’s no ignoring that Manchester City won a famed treble during the 2023 season. Don’t be surprised to see the likes of Ruben Dias, Kyle Walker, and potentially John Stones included in the TOTY. However, we believe Virgil van Dijk is a safe bet given EA FC 24 players’ tendency to vote meta players into the TOTY.

Midfielders

CM: Rodri
CM: Kevin De Bruyne
CM: Jude Bellingham

For starters, how could we not mention Jude Bellingham? Given the midfielder’s form since his blockbuster move to Real Madrid, Bellingham is expected to be included in the EA FC 24 TOTY. While his level of play at Borussia Dortmund was worthy of praise, he’s reached new heights at Madrid, and getting the goals to prove it.

Players like Jude Bellingham will be hoping to secure a spot in the TOTY.

Rodri deserves praise as quietly being the most important piece of Manchester City’s treble-winning season in 2023. While he isn’t the flashiest player, Rodri’s work rate on and off the ball is second to none.

Meanwhile, his teammate Kevin De Bruyne is likely to be included in the TOTY despite not featuring for the majority of the 2023/2024 season. That explains how stellar his form was during Man City’s dominant 2023 campaign.

Attackers

LW: Kylian Mbappe
ST: Erling Haaland
RW: Lionel Messi

Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are the new attacking duo that have replaced Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the focal point of European football. That’s not to suggest that they will achieve similar feats, but at this point, Mbappe and Haaland’s goalscoring form throughout 2023 will be enough to see them make the EA FC 24 TOTY.

Messi’s involvement in the TOTY is a little tricker given his World Cup win took place in 2022, and since then has moved to ply his trade in the MLS. Whether you’re putting it down to nostalgia, the fact that he’s dominated a new experience in the US, or picked up his record-setting eighth Ballon d’Or in 2023, only a fool would count Messi out.
