Macrocosm Destiny 2

Microcosm is a new Heavy Exotic Trace Rifle in Destiny 2 The Final Shape, so here’s how you can get this weapon.

Microcosm is the first ever Heavy Exotic Trace Rifle which was introduced in Destiny 2 The Final Shape. Unlike the other Trace Rifles in the game so far, it synergizes with your Super very well, irrespective of the one that you’re using.

So, here’s how you can get your hands on the Microcosm Heavy Exotic Trace Rifle in Destiny 2 The Final Shape.

How to unlock Microcosm quest in Destiny 2 The Final Shape

To unlock the Microcosm quest in Destiny 2, you need to finish The Final Shape campaign. After you’ve done the campaign, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Go through the “Destined Heroes” questline and complete the first step of “Queens I” mission in the “Ergo Sum” questline.
  2. Once you’ve completed that mission, you will be able to access the “Convalescence” questline from Micah-10.
  3. After you’ve finished the entire ‘Covalescence” questline, you’ll receive the final Exotic quest called “Convalescence: Budding.”

You need to complete three missions to get the Microcosm Exotic.

When you complete this Exotic quest, you will receive the Microcosm Exotic Heavy Trace Rifle as a reward.

How to complete the Microcosm quest in Destiny 2 The Final Shape

As a part of the Microcosm quest, you need to complete three campaign missions in Destiny 2 The Final Shape on Cooperative Focus mode. These missions are as follows:

  • Ascent
  • Dissent
  • Iconoclasm

The Cooperative Focus mode means that you will have to team up with at least another Guardian using the Fireteam Finder, or with a friend while completing this mission.

When you launch the mission from the campaign launcher within the Pale Heart, you’ll see that these missions have the Cooperative Focus icon beside them, and the mission requires you to be at 2005 Power level.

You can complete these missions in any order, but they have additional modifiers which are as follows:

Glyptouched

You’ve already come across the Glyptouched mechanic in all campaign missions. But in Cooperative Focus mode, only one player will receive the Glyphtouched buff, and will be able to interact with the Glyph spots.

However, they won’t be able to see the Glyphs after killing an enemy, so it will be up to the rest of the team to communicate and tell them what they see.

Berserkers

Berserkers from the Scourge of the Past Raid make a comeback with the Cooperative Focus modifier for the Microcosm Heavy Exotic Trace Rifle mission in Destiny 2 The Final Shape.

Whenever you come across a Berserker, they’ll release an area of effect attack that will slow you, but it’ll also expose a weak point on the front and rear side of their body.

You and a teammate will have to shoot these two weak points at the same time, and that will remove immunity shields from two Darkness Cruxes in the zone. Once again, you and a teammate will have to shoot these Cruxes at the same time.

If you fail to do so repeatedly, the encounter will trigger the wipe mechanic and you will have to start over from the very beginning

Fractured by the Witness

When exploring these three missions under the influence of the Cooperative Focus modifier, one player at random will receive the Fractured debuff.

This debuff will stack continuously and when it reaches x7 it will prevent you from moving completely. At this point, you will be able to interact with the player and collect this debuff for yourself.

Basically, you will have to juggle this debuff until you get to the end of the objective. Keep in mind that if this debuff stacks to x10, then you will be killed.

What does Microcosm do in Destiny 2 The Final Shape?

The Microcosm Heavy Exotic Trace Rifle in Destiny 2 is unique for two specific reasons which are:

  • This is the first Heavy Exotic Trace Rifle in Destiny 2.
  • This is the only Heavy Trace Rifle in Destiny 2 that deals Kinetic damage.

And if that wasn’t enough, here’s what this weapon does:

  • Paracausal Imbuement (Weapon Trait): Final blows with this weapon grant Super energy. This weapon gains bonus damage once your Super expires.
  • Paracausal Beam (Intrinsic Perk): Fires a beam of Kinetic light, dealing massive bonus damage to shields.

So that’s everything you need to know about the three modifiers and everything that you need to do in order to unlock the Microcosm Heavy Exotic Trace Rifle in Destiny 2 The Final Shape. While you’re exploring the Pale Heart, make sure to collect the Hunter’s Journal, and all the Prismatic Fragments that you will come across in the game.
