Destiny 2 gives Guardians the option to continue the grind on different platforms with the cross save feature, so let’s go over how Destiny 2 cross cave works and how to set it up.

Destiny 2 Lightfall is finally here, bringing a whole host of content to Bungie’s looter shooter, including a brand-new raid and, of course, weapons and gear to hunt down.

With so much grinding to be done, players will often feel the need to pick up where they left off on different platforms. Luckily, Destiny 2 lets you do just that with the cross save feature.

Here’s everything you need to know about Destiny 2’s cross save capability, including how to set it up.

What is cross save in Destiny 2?

Destiny 2’s cross save function allows players to select three of their Guardians and share them between platforms. This means any gear earned or missions completed on PlayStation 5, for example, will carry over and be waiting if log in on Xbox.

Cross save works between all platforms; PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, so there’s no need to start a whole new character if you don’t have access to your main platform. However, there are a few drawbacks that are worth keeping in mind.

First of all, it’s impossible to merge characters and gear from different platforms, so all Guardians you create must remain separate. Also, any purchases will not carry over, meaning Silver and expansions must be bought separately on each platform.

Aside from these downsides, though, Destiny 2’s cross save feature is an ideal way to make progress no matter where you play.

How to enable cross save in Destiny 2

In order to access Destiny 2 cross save, you’ll need to need link your current account to any new platforms you wish to share progression on. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Head to Bungie.net and login to your account.
  2. In the account menu, select ‘Cross Save.’
  3. Link any platforms that aren’t currently tied to your Destiny account.
  4. Select the Guardians you want to share between all platforms.
  5. Login to Destiny 2 on any linked platform and pick up where you left off.

Once you’ve completed the steps above, you’ll be able to seamlessly continue with your Destiny 2 save as long as you are logged in with the account you linked at the beginning.

You also have the option to disable cross save, but this will temporarily lock the feature for 90 days, so make sure you’ve thought it through before doing so.
