Cyberpunk 2077 introduced a lot of new features with Update 2.0 and the Phantom Liberty DLC. Here’s everything new in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, including a revamped police system, new weapons, and more.

Cyberpunk 2077 seems to have corrected its course after a disappointing launch back in 2020. CD Projekt RED’s decision to delay the game’s DLCs to focus on fixing the game as well as the release of the popular Edgerunners update looks to have worked out, as the game is currently in a solid state and things are only getting better with the new Phantom Liberty DLC and the massive update alongside it.

The update brings the game closer to what fans have always envisioned, as it adds entire new systems to Cyberpunk 2077 and touches up some existing mechanics. The DLC itself expands upon V’s story and adds a brand-new district to the game.

Here’s everything in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, including new quests, vehicle combat, and more.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phatom Liberty: Revamped police system

One of the major complaints levied against Cyberpunk 2077 was its barebones police system. Early versions of the game saw police NPCs and drones spawn repeatedly out of thin air, killing any sense of immersion.

To resolve this, CD Projekt RED have introduced a brand-new police system. It features different star levels, each offering a new challenge for players to tackle. As V gains notoriety, the police ramps up their efforts to shut the player down. NCPD now set up barricades and roadblocks, and can even call upon MaxTac to lend a hand.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phatom Liberty: New locations & quests

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty brings a brand-new story and a new location called Dogtown to the game. The expansion has been dubbed as a spy-thriller by the devs, and revolves around themes of espionage, and throwing players into a desperate new quest to save NUSA President Rosalind Myers.

A prominent character in Phantom Liberty’s story is played by none other than Idris Elba himself. The actor fills the shoes of Federal sleeper agent Solomon Reed.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty: Overhauled skill tree

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 streamlines the game’s convoluted skill tree. The total number of Perks has received a significant deduction, leaning more toward active skills.

The Phantom Liberty DLC also introduces a brand-new Relic skill tree, offering various Perks that dramatically enhance V’s cybernetic ability.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty: New weapons

Cyberpunk 2077’s diverse arsenal of weapons has been further expanded by Phantom Liberty. From new smart weapons to thermal katanas, the game offers even more ways to dispatch your enemies.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty: Vehicle combat

Vehicle combat is a significant aspect of Cyberpunk 2077. Players can now lean out of cars and fire at enemies. They can also wield Katanas while riding a bike. Netrunner builds can cast all sorts of Quickhacks on enemy vehicles.

Even the cars themselves feature mounted weapons including machine guns and rockets.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty: Cyberware system overhaul

Cyberpunk 2077 allows players to augment their characters with cybernetic enhancements. These pieces of cyberware grant V incredible abilities of lethal or movement-based variety.

With Phantom Liberty, CD Projekt RED have streamlined the system and introduced slick visual changes. This includes the addition of a mechanic that casts stat debuffs on players who have augmented too many pieces of cyberware.
