NPD: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the best selling game of October, currently best selling game of the year
The NPD Group has released their data for the month of October 2018 late today. The group releases monthly data showcasing the game industry’s results for each month in North America.
The NPD Group has reported that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the best selling game in North America for the month of October and is currently the best selling game of 2018.
Black Ops 4 tops the chart: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the best-selling game of October. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launch month dollar sales represent the 8th highest in Video Game history since The NPD Group began tracking in 1995. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 instantly becomes the best-selling game of the year, and the 2nd best-selling game across the past twelve month period, trailing only Call of Duty: WWII.
Here’s a look at the sales for the month of October 2018, across all platforms. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was #1, with Red Dead Redemption 2 coming in at #2 for the month. Activision Blizzard had 2 games on the top 20 list for the month. (Note: PC digital sales for Black Ops 4 is not tracked by the NPD.)
NPD’s Mat Piscatella has reported that the lack of a SP campaign in Black Ops 4 did not impact the sales at all for the title.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was also the top selling game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively, coming in at #1 on the PS4 and Xbox One specific charts from the NPD Group.
