Call of Duty fans have been going back to some of the franchise’s most iconic games as the devs fix the servers for classic multiplayer titles like Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 2 on Xbox.

Call of Duty players often reminisce about previous titles in the franchise, especially the games that came out during the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 era.

Unfortunately, due to server issues, players have been unable to boot up their old consoles and play classic Call of Duty multiplayer games such as Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 2.

However, those server problems on Xbox 360 are now gone, allowing players to finally get a shot of nostalgia, and they’re loving it.

Call of Duty players have been flocking back to previous CoD titles on Xbox 360, as over 10,000 players were enjoying Black Ops 2’s multiplayer on Xbox 360 on July 16, 2023. This is all thanks to matchmaking working again, allowing players to get on the servers and find matches.

In the comments of CharlieIntel‘s Twitter post highlighting the rise in players on Black Ops 2, one player said “More concurrent players than MW2 multiplayer… lol,” throwing some shade at the current Modern Warfare 2 2022 multiplayer and its declining player count.

Once the word was out about Black Ops 2’s matchmaking working once again, it spread like wildfire and players started jumping on other Call of Duty titles on Xbox 360. Players have been going back to the original Modern Warfare 2 and even Advanced Warfare. In fact, Modern Warfare 3 had over 7,000 active Xbox 360 players on July 17.

While the servers are back up for these games, unfortunately, there’s still a lot of hacking going on, but players are reporting that it’s not as bad as many would think:

“I’ve experienced only two hacked lobbies. But if that happens just insta leave and re que. You can get into a lobby instantly now with everything being fixed.”

It’s great to see so many being able to go back and play their favorite Call of Duty multiplayer titles, as for many, those classic games are where their love for gaming and CoD started.
