Black Ops 4 is the best selling game in US in 2018 through November – NPD Group
The NPD released their latest data for the US Games Retail market earlier this week and provided an update on where Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 stands in the charts after its two months of release.
For the entire year, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the best selling game of the year to date. Red Dead Redemption 2 did have a huge November and was the best selling game for the specific month, but Black Ops 4 remains the best selling game overall for the 2018 year.
Here’s the chart for the year-to-date 2018 game sales, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 coming in at #1 in term of dollar sales:
Here’s the chart for the month of November 2018:
These charts do not track PC digital sales, as Call of Duty is now sold on Blizzard’s platform, and the data for that platform is not public.
In addition, NPD has stated that Black Ops 4 is the second fastest selling game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in history of the consoles, trailing Call of Duty: WWII. Call of Duty: WWII remains one of the best selling Call of Duty games on the current generation platforms.
US NPD SW – Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII is the second best-selling game of November, and remains the best-selling game year to date. Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII is the second fastest selling game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in history, trailing only 2017's Call of Duty: WWII.

It is not clear yet which title — Black Ops 4 or Red Dead Redemption II — will be the best selling game overall for 2018. That information will come in January, when NPD releases their next update on the market. NPD’s Mat Piscatella states that the gap between the two games will be very close, but he believes Red Dead Redemption II will narrowly edge out Black Ops 4.
The January NPD Data will be released on January 22, 2019.
