Warzone 2 Ranked Play is officially on the way

Warzone 2 player in Ranked Play

Warzone players have been desperate for a ranked mode ever since the game launched, and the devs have confirmed that Ranked Play is finally coming in Warzone 2.

Ranked Play has finally hit Modern Warfare 2 with the Season 2 update, letting players play like the CDL pros, but a Warzone ranked mode has long been requested.

While competitive modes such as Iron and Titanium Trials have hit Warzone in the past, we knew that Ranked Play was in the works but the developers couldn’t give a release date. Now, with Warzone 2 in its second season, we finally know that Ranked Play is officially on the way.

Warzone 2 Ranked Play confirmed

The devs confirmed that Ranked Play for Warzone 2 is coming to a “season near you,” with a tweet clarifying that it’s set to arrive in “Season 3 and beyond.” They couldn’t give an exact release date, but we’d expect to see it within the next few months.

What Warzone 2’s Ranked Play will look and play like is anyone’s guess, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it take on the mechanics and gameplay changes from Iron Trials and its spin-offs. It could also take on the Ranks and Skill Divisions from Modern Warfare 2 for consistency.

Iron Trials was a fan-favorite mode in the original Warzone.

Similar to games like Apex Legends, competitive Warzone gives players a point-per-kill, which is then multiplied depending on placement. We’d expect Warzone 2 Ranked Play to follow a similar format, but we’ll have to wait for more details.

Be sure to stay tuned, as we’ll keep you updated with more Warzone 2 Ranked Play news as it comes. The next major update will be Season 2 Reloaded, but we might have to wait longer to know more.

In the meantime, you can check out all of the map changes coming to Al Mazrah as well as everything you need to know about the new Ashika Island Resurgence map.
