Dark Matter is a popular weapon camo from Black Ops Cold War, but some players have noticed that Modern Warfare players have been using Dark Matter on Warzone weapons. But can you get it, and if so, how?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has various popular camos players can use on their weapons like Damascus. The same is true for Black Ops Cold War, as players in the latest entry in the high-profile franchise have camos like Dark Matter and Diamond to try and earn.

However, the past couple of months have seen members of the Modern Warfare community notice players using Modern Warfare Dark Matter weapons even though that particular camo is not available in Modern Warfare, only Warzone, thanks to the integration of Cold War into the Call of Duty battle royale.

This has led to plenty of players asking a simple question, can you get Dark Matter in Modern Warfare?

Is Dark Matter camo in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare?

Technically, yes, but it shouldn’t be. Modern Warfare is not integrated with Treyarch’s Black Ops Cold War like Warzone. Weapons from Cold War are not available in Modern Warfare, and thus you can not use camos from Cold War weapons in MW Multiplayer.

However, there have been instances where players have been spotted using Modern Warfare Dark Matter weapons in Multiplayer.

This is because players hacked the game and applied the Cold War camo to weapons from the other game. This is likely due to Black Ops Cold War and Warzone being integrated, as this possibly allows hackers to pull camos from Black Ops into Modern Warfare like Dark Matter.

You can find some examples of Modern Warfare Dark Matter in action in a video from FaZe Agony below:

Season 4 of Warzone suffered a widespread issue in which hackers were able to manipulate their rank to be Level 1,000, and also gain access to all camos in Call of Duty. Every other player that took part in a lobby with one of these hackers was automatically granted Rank 1,000 and all camos too – against their will.

NICKMERCS was one of the most high-profile names to be struck by this hack, and Raven Software was able to identify the problem and eventually patch it out.

So, players can not get Dark Matter on MW weapons without hacking, and while this form of altering game files may not be as frowned upon as aim-botting or wall-hacking, it could still lead to players getting their accounts banned.
