Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 Gunsmith brings firing range to test weapon loadouts
Warzone players have been desperate to see a firing range where they can test out their weapon loadouts and it’s finally coming with Modern Warfare 2.
Modern Warfare 2019 and Warzone completely changed how Call of Duty treats attachments, using the Gunsmith system to give players full control over how they want to customize their weapons.
Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will expand on the Gunsmith even further, allowing players to tune their attachment and find the balance between the positives and negatives. This all sounds very complex but luckily, the new Gunsmith is set to feature a firing range that allows players to test their loadouts.
CharlieIntel were invited out to a creator event where Infinity Ward showed off the campaign, the new movement mechanics, and more. They also showed off the brand-new Gunsmith system where there was an interesting button in the menu – “Go to Firing Range.”
YouTuber TheXclusiveAce also attended the event and recreated the Gunsmith screen that was shown off, and you can see the firing range button in the bottom left-hand corner. This might not be the Gunsmith’s final layout but it gives a good indication of what they have planned.
Infinity Ward didn’t show off the firing range, so we’ll likely need to wait until more information or the beta to release to know exactly how it’ll work.
With how complex Modern Warfare 2’s Gunsmith sounds, a firing range should be a welcome addition when using the new attachment tuning system. You’ll be able to use a slider to change specific attachments with each direction having different positives and negatives. For example, making a barrel heavier will improve recoil control but hurt mobility and vice versa.
Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone players will likely spend a ton of time fine-tuning their loadout and the firing range should make testing out these attachments and their effects much quicker and easier.
