Report: Call of Duty League 2020 will start with home/away game format, announcement coming

SportsBusinessDaily is reporting that Activision Blizzard Esports League will announce today plans for the 2020 Call of Duty League to start with the home and away game format that the franchised league will allow.

The news comes as Overwatch League announced the 2020 season format where each team will be hosting homestead events throughout the course of different weekends in 2020 starting in February.

New Call of Duty Esports Commissioner Johanna Faries sent a statement to SportsBusinessDaily today: “We’re thrilled that the future of ‘Call of Duty’ esports will bring more competitive events to fans in cities around the globe. With seven teams already signed on, we anticipate a robust slate of events held in all home markets.”

SportsBusinessDaily is reporting that Activision Blizzard Esports League plans to have 12 teams for the league next year with only 7 confirmed thus far – Atlanta, Dallas, L.A., Minneapolis, N.Y., Paris and Toronto.
