Activision and Treyarch have revealed the details on the 2019 Call of Duty World League Season for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 during a live stream from Treyarch Studios.

“With Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the Call of Duty World League is poised to have its most exciting and biggest season yet. Beginning in Las Vegas and continuing throughout 2019, CWL fans can expect the best players from around the world to battle even harder to be crowned Call of Duty World League Champion,” said Executive Vice President and General Manager of Call of Duty, Rob Kostich. “This season brings a ton of new storylines, including the move to five vs. five in CWL. We’re excited for this opportunity and we’re supporting it with the largest prizing in our history of $6 million. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is tailor-made for intense competition at all levels – pro and amateur – and with this move we’re ensuring that the game you play, is the game you see this season with the CWL.”

The 2019 CWL Season will feature the biggest total prize pool in Call of Duty esports history with a total of $6 million across the entire season year.

Another big change is that LAN events no longer have region locked rosters. Players can be on the same team regardless of region.

CWL Las Vegas:

The 2019 Call of Duty World League season officially kicks off with the first event taking place December 7-9 in Las Vegas, NV.

CWL Pro League:

The CWL Pro League is also returning with big changes. There’s only 1 season, and the season ends with the CWL Finals. There is big changes to the qualification for the Pro League, with more focus being on the placements from CWL Las Vegas. The CWL Pro League will begin in February 2019, with final qualification taking place in January 2019.

The 16 Pro League teams will be split up into two divisions, but there will no longer be a relegation period nor two separate stages. This year, there will only be one stage with 12-weeks of play, including inter-divisional play. Furthermore, teams will be rewarded a prize bonus, in addition to base prizing for being in the CWL Pro League, for each match win throughout the season, meaning that every series, every game, and every play will have even more on the line than just a place in the CWL Pro League Playoffs.

To conclude the Pro League, there will be a CWL Finals event – a brand new event that will replace the CWL Pro League Playoffs. This event will take place in a separate venue — not in the MLG Arena, like the Pro League — and will feature both the finals of the Pro League and a final event of the amateur league.

Introducing the CWL Finals. We’re elevating the CWL Pro League Playoffs to its own dedicated event, featuring the best teams in the world competing for a prize pool and trophy. At the same event, top amateur circuit teams will compete in their own playoff event which also serves as the Last Chance Qualifier for the end-of-year Call of Duty World League Championship.

Path to Pro:

Activision has also announced a brand new path to pro system, which will feature a separate prize pool, trophies, and stream to allow amateur players a better chance to level up and make their name known in the Call of Duty esports.

Beginning with the second “Open” LAN event of the year and continuing through each “Open” LAN event thereafter, amateur teams will compete in a double-elimination open bracket tournament for their own prize pool. Amateur circuit tournaments will be held at the same time and venue as the CWL Pro League Cup, and its final will take place on the main stage of that event.

Similar to Pro League teams, we’ve eliminated region restriction rules for amateur teams at LAN events. All LAN event rosters now have flexibility to select their best possible squad, regardless of region.

In addition, the CWL National Circuit, which launched during Call of Duty: WWII season, is returning in 2019 as the CWL National Qualifiers.

In each CWL National Qualifier, 16 teams will compete in an online tournament to win travel and accommodation to compete at a future CWL LAN event.

CWL National Qualifiers will take place in the original National Circuit locations: Australia and New Zealand, Canada, France and Belgium, Italy, Germany and Netherlands, Spain and Portugal, United Kingdom and Ireland, United States. Each Qualifier will be country and region-locked, requiring players being from respective countries and regions to compete.

Recap:

The Black Ops 4 CWL Season will end in August 2019 with CWL Championship.
