For all the players unhappy about a lack of League Play in Black Ops Cold War, well fear not as one of Treyarch’s devs has confirmed that a ranked playlist is being worked on.

Lots of people tend to just play and enjoy Call of Duty carefree without any stress, and some people even disregard the notion of K/D. But for some, they like to play CoD with goals in mind and want to face better players in the game to test their abilities.

Call of Duty games have featured Ranked Play playlists in recent years that have helped to assign people their rating and determine their ability. The titles don’t ordinarily don’t launch with them, but slowly introduce the feature later into the game’s lifecycle – this seems to be the case for BOCW too.

BOCW getting League Play

Treyarch developer David Vonderhaar did mention, way back in October, that League Play would be something they would work on, but we haven’t heard anything since. That is until now.

A Reddit post about the issue actually received a response from Treyarch dev FoxhoundFPS who responded to the OP.

He said: “Yes. Ranked Play will be a thing. I currently don’t have a timetable to share with you, however.”

So it still seems like League Play is something that Treyarch is actively working on, but between fixing BOCW issues, maintaining Season 1, and preparing for Season 2, Treyarch has a lot on their plate right now.

The issue also came up in November of last year when OpTic Chicago’s Seth ‘Scump’ Abner got into an exchange with David Vonderhaar.

In many respects, you have to feel that Scump has a point because it means that the higher-level Call of Duty players will have to spend several months in a mixture of lobbies with some players that probably aren’t anywhere near their level.

In any event, it’s great to know that League Play will be appearing in BOCW, and hopefully, it raises the level of competition and also frees up the main lobbies for casual players to enjoy the game more.
