Some unlucky Baldur’s Gate 3 players found a strange “glitch” that made the characters lose their favorite weapons forever during Act 2.

Baldur’s Gate 3 sets players into a mysterious quest that lets them face the Gauntlet of Shar, a mission full of riddles that are a must for those playing with Shadowheart. While fans have had time to figure out how to successfully pass these tests, some unlucky players found a glitch that makes them say goodbye to their favorite weapons.

The issue was described by Redditor ‘Neodym60,’ who felt that losing a weapon this way during Act 2 was “a little unfair.” During the Self-Same trial, a quest where players have to fight against a mirror version of themselves, the user ordered their Fighter to drop its weapon, which prompted the clone to do the same with theirs.

However, the mirror’s image weapon disappeared, which resulted in only one weapon -the real one- to be up to grabs. “So what did the mirror image do? Exactly, it picked up my staff from the ground and continued to fight with it. As the images are not lootable after the fight and just disappear, my staff was gone with it,” said ‘Neodym60.’

“On one hand, I understand the frustration. On the other hand, The Lady of Loss making you lose your equipment if you’re unlucky or uncareful is very on-theme for Shar,” joked Redditor ‘69000_ducklings.’

While many Baldur’s Gate 3 players found the glitch amusing, others commented to have lost very important items this way. “Astarion lost his Sussar Dagger this way in my Honour run. I’m pretty salty about that. After they were killed it wasn’t on the body,” described user ‘Lookitsnichole.’

Some fans came to the rescue of the OP and others affected by the glitch, and suggested completely clearing the characters’ inventory before starting the trial and then re-equiping them once inside. “This way your side is fully armed and armoured, but the illusions are not,” explained user ‘Ocsencnarf.’

And that’s what mysterious glitch has been making Baldur’s Gate 3 players lose their weapons permanently during the Gauntlet of Shar.
