Baldur’s Gate 3 players discover how to “trick” the Mage Hand into casting Class Action spells from weapons.

Mage Hand is a great summon in Baldur’s Gate 3 since the mysterious floating hand can help distract enemies or interact with objects that are out of reach. Players have long wanted for it to be able to do more than shove enemies during fights, and a fan has discovered not only how to get it to “wield” weapons but also cast their Class Actions.

Youtuber Toyhouze has shared that you can do so by casting the Mage Hand with an Arcane Trickster, a Rogue build that allows this class to use the Wizard spell list and use Intelligence for rolls.

Players think that this could only be possible thanks to a bug, and while some have confirmed that it is, they’ve also shared useful details about it: “You can only equip weapons that have a gear icon. It is most likely a bug as a Mage Hand, like most entities, is considered like a character with basic properties with most being disabled,” read a comment.

Toyhouze showed that his Arcane Trickster Mage Hand could wield the Phalar Aluve, a rare Longsword that can be found in the Underdark of Act 1. The summon can carry the sword and cast its “Shriek” skill, which inflicts a 1d4 penalty to Charisma, Wisdom, and Intelligence Saving Throws, as well as 1-4 Thunder damage.

According to the Baldur’s Gate 3 fan, the Mage Hand could also cast other skills depending on which weapon they’re carrying, something that got players wondering if it could be equipped with items such as the “Crooked Wand of Fireballs” to make use of its skills without its side effects.

And that’s everything about how to trick your Mage Hand into “wielding” weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, you can check our guides what key reason players think you should hoard Arrows of Dragon Slaying, and how to get Alfira’s hidden special rewards.
