Baldur’s Gate 3 finally introduced one of the key features that players have been asking for since the release of the game, which is to change their main character’s appearance. This will be possible through the Magic Mirror, an item added after Patch 3.

The Magic Mirror doesn’t only allow more players to experiment with mods created by the community, but it lets users role-play what’s happening with their characters by adding scars, tattoos, or other details to their Tav’s appearance.

What is the Magic Mirror in Baldur’s Gate 3?

The Magic Mirror is an object that allows you to change your main character’s appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3. According to Larian Studios, this item also lets you change the voice, pronouns, and private parts of the Tav you’ve created in character creation.

However, the Magic Mirror won’t change your race or body type, can’t alter any characteristic of the original Origin characters, hirelings, or full illithids, and won’t let you alter any consequences of your gameplay choices.

Where to find the Magic Mirror in Baldur’s Gate 3

The Magic Mirror in Baldur’s Gate 3 is located at your camp and can be used every time you need it. This feature became available after Larian Studios released Baldur’s Gate 3 update 3 on September 22, 2023.

How to use the Magic Mirror in Baldur’s Gate 3

If you want to use the Magic Mirror in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll first need to go to your main camp. To do so, you can simply open your map and click on the Camp button in the top right corner of the Waypoints section.

You can also look for the camp button on the right of your character’s bar, where there’s a little fire icon. Once you click it, you can press on the option of “Go to Camp”.

There, you’ll find the Magic Mirror in a corner, which you can use by simply interacting with it. After doing so, you’ll be transported to the character creation menu, where you can tweak your main character appearance, voice, pronouns, and private parts.
