Larian Studios’ iconic RPG has confused players during the first part of character creation. Here’s what the Baldur’s Gate 3 community has been talking about.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has a mysterious feature that usually baffles first-time players during the character creation menu. Because Larian Studios’ RPG pays special attention to role-play mechanics, the game asks you to create the main character along with their Guardian, an enigmatic NPC that will play a crucial role in any play through.

In a post called “I misunderstood the Guardian creation,” Reddit user ‘TheAncientLamp’ posted a video of one of the first interactions with his characters’ Guardian, which he designed to be a copy of themself.

While some fans joked that the Original Poster’s characters looked like members of the Blue Man Group or the bizarre Mauler twins from Invincible, other players pointed out this misunderstanding seemed to be a frequent problem for Baldur’s Gate 3 players.

“I was completely confused by the character – Guardian creation. I made what I thought would be my character, and then thought the game just bugged out, and I had to do it all again. So I made 99.99% similar char and Guardian, “commented another user called ‘Strategy_pan’.

Some other players made the mistake of thinking of the “Guardian” as a sort of angelic counselor and thought of creating a character that meant to tutor the main player. “I took the ‘Guardian’ part too seriously and made my Tav’s parent. That was a bit of a shock come Act 3,” said Redditor ‘Martanimate’.

While Baldur’s Gate 3 trailers and official gameplay introduced players to the problems of Faerun, it’s true that there isn’t a specific mention of what a Guardian does. After figuring out what this strange character does, lots of players said that they felt the need to restart the game to create two different characters.

“Misunderstood? It’s not even explained, just ‘here make a guardian!’…. Why? What is it?! I’m not far into the game and haven’t discovered what it really does yet and like to roleplay my characters so it really bugs me!,” complained user ‘ConMan’.

And that’s everything about Baldur’s Gate 3 Guardian creation cloning mistake. If you want to know more about Larian Studios’ RPG, you can check players’ gruesome discovery during Act 1 or what are the best weapons for your adventures in Faerun.
