Apex Legends trick makes Newcastle’s shield even stronger
An Apex Legends player has discovered an important trick for Newcastle’s Mobile Shield that makes the ability even stronger than it already is.
Apex Legends Season 13 has been out for some time now, and although players have had plenty of time to dig their teeth into the new Legend Newcastle, new tips and tricks are still being found for the character.
The latest trick to be found is for Newcastle’s Tactical ability, the Mobile Shield, which can save you from some pretty sticky situations.
Newcastle’s Mobile Shield is deployed by a small drone that can be moved around to wherever the player wants it for a limited amount of time. The shield covers a small radius, unlike Gibraltar‘s Dome Shield.
Usually, players use it to protect themselves from a certain angle, perhaps to stop enemies from shooting them from either the front, side, or back. This shield will protect them from one angle, but leave them exposed to others, which is the main downside to the ability.
However, Reddit user kuroneko4696 highlighted a nifty trick with Newcastle’s Mobile Shield that actually increases the protection you can get from the shield.
As you can see from the video, despite Newcastle’s Mobile Shield only covering a short radius, the player is able to prevent damage from the exposed side.
This was explained in the comments as one user wrote: “the drone that projects the shield blocks the explosion.” So, Newcastle’s small drone that actually projects the protective shield can also block incoming damage as long as the player sits in the right place.
Supposedly, the whole squad can sit in the shield and be protected from damage using the small drone as protection, so keep that in mind next time you are playing as Newcastle.
This can be extremely useful when players need to take cover from incoming damage but are exposed on the other side of the shield to a grenade or damaging ability.
