Respawn explains why Apex Legends Tap-Strafing has been removed from the game in Patch 10.1.

Apex Legends has an insane amount of mobility than most other Battle Royales don’t offer. It features zero fall damage, downhill sliding, and a ton of abilities that increase mobility.

However, some players have found strategies that offer even more mobility. In a game as fast-paced as Apex Legends, any increase in mobility helps. High-skill mechanics like Wall Bouncing and Tap-Strafing are essential to climbing the ranks.

Yet, the developers feel that Tap-Strafing is too overpowered. As such, Respawn will be removing the ability to Tap-Strafe in Apex Legends. Although players aren’t happy, here’s why Respawn is removing the mechanic.

Apex Legends Tap-Strafing removed

Apex Legends update 10.1 is removing Tap-Strafing from the game, with Respawn Entertainment stating that it is “inaccessible, lacks readability/counterplay, and is exacerbated by movement abilities.” Future patch notes for update 10.1 will include more details regarding its removal, according to Respawn.

Firstly, the mechanic is inaccessible because it is exclusive to PC users. Tap-Strafing requires precise inputs only possible on Mouse and Keyboard. As such, it puts console players at a severe disadvantage.

Apex Legends Tap-Strafing makes it extremely difficult for other players to read their opponent’s movements. There’s also no way to counter Tap-Strafing, which makes it very overpowered.

In addition, you can also pair Tap-Strafing with other movement abilities. Specifically, players can Tap-Strafe while using launch pads to perform otherwise impossible movements.

The news of the Apex Legends tap-strafing mechanic being removed from the game received plenty of mixed reactions from the community. Players were satisfied and disappointed to see this major feature be scheduled for removal.

But what do you think? Is Tap-Strafing overpowered, or was it just another mechanic that made Apex Legends unique? Let us know your thoughts on our Charlie INTEL Facebook Page and Charlie INTEL Twitter Page!
