Respawn responds to Mirage fix in Apex Legends

Respawn announced a fix for an issue with Mirage’s abilities in Apex Legends, which was keeping his decoys from making footsteps noises. This hasn’t worked as well as it should have, and the developers are investigating the issue.

There are a variety of diverse and colorful characters to choose from in Apex Legends. Each of them has their own unique abilities, and Mirage is a Legend that is capable of deception. One of his abilities allows him to spawn decoys in order to confuse enemies.

The main downside to using this tactic is that the decoys don’t make any footstep noises, so that makes them easy to pick out if your enemies are listening closely. Mirage fans were optimistic when Respawn confirmed a Fight Night bug fix for this back in January.

However, it seems that fix hasn’t worked so far, and some players decided to ask the devs for answers. Now, a response to this issue has come from Jason McCord, Design Director at Respawn.

Apex Legends dev responds to issue with Mirage footstep buff

Mirage’s changes were confirmed by Respawn as a bug-fix in the Fight Night Event patch notes. They were then implemented after the update dropped on January 5, but now reports are coming in that the buff isn’t working properly.

Jason McCord responded to a fan query about the problem on Twitter after he was asked: “I was wondering if Mirage finally got that “bug fix” with his decoys making footsteps sounds. I’ve not heard any decoys making footsteps since the update, even playing as Mirage.”

The dev then stated: “I’m checking. Thanks for bringing it up.” While the ability can still be used to some degree of success, the lack of footstep sounds puts the Mirage user at a disadvantage since it’s more difficult to trick opponents.

Once the changes are added, the Legend has another level of deception to his arsenal. If enemies can hear footsteps from the decoys, or can’t hear those of the real Mirage, then identifying him would become more of a challenge.

This is why many players were excited to see the promised change be implemented in Apex Legends. While Respawn may see it as a simple bug fix, this would serve as a major buff to the trickster.

Luckily, Respawn’s Design Director has assured fans that the developers are investigating the issue. Hopefully, we’ll see a new update patch soon that will fix this problem once and for all.

There is plenty of content to come for aspiring Apex Legends in the making, and we’ll be sure to update you with new information as soon as it’s announced.
