Activision Blizzard made $4 billion from microtransactions in 2017

As part of their financial earning call, Activision Blizzard stated that they earned a total of $4 billion from microtransactions in 2017.

ŠActivision Blizzard delivered a fourth-quarter record of over $1 billion of in-game net bookings, and an annual record of over $4 billion of in-game net bookings.

Of that amount, $2 billion is from Candy Crash only, the popular mobile game from King Digital, a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard Inc. Yes, King Digital saw $2 billion from their mobile games in 2017.

The remaining $2 billion is from Activision Blizzard games and includes Call of Duty, Overwatch, and more DLC the company offers in a variety of their titles.

Activision also said that in 2017, Call of Duty Points and Destiny Silver currency revenue was higher than revenue from DLC Packs, continuing to show how strong microtransaction is in this industry.
