Methods to get free pets in Adopt Me!
Log in daily to get Star Rewards
You can get free pets in Adopt Me simply by logging in daily and accumulating Stars. Every time you log in, you get Stars based on the amount of time you play the game.
Logging in daily and playing Adopt Me will allow you to collect a high amount of Stars. Thereafter, head to Star Rewards and check for the pets that can be purchased with them.
The price of pets that you can get from Star Rewards varies. A Ginger Cat costs 210 Stars while a Starfish requires 550 Stars to unlock.
Apparently, making log-in streaks in Adopt Me is also desirable. You get bonus Stars for a five-day streak and a thirty-day streak provides you with a Cracked Egg.

At the outset of your journey in Adopt Me, Sir Woofington hands out a Starter Egg that contains a free pet. You can hatch this egg by completing certain in-game objectives and then selecting between a dog or a cat as your pet.
Events
Events are arguably the best way to get limited-time pets for free in Adopt Me. For instance, the developers released a Halloween update in October 2022 that has mini-games.
Players can take part in these mini-games, earn Candy, and get free event rewards including pets such as Chimera, Evil Basilisk, and more.

Interestingly, Adopt Me developers have added free Legendary pets to random locations as an incentive for players to explore the map.
The places where you can find free Legendary pets are:
- Cross the bridge in front of the hospital and enter the Best Shop Ever. Inside, enter the vent that says Nothing to see here.
- Try to cross the Exit section of the game with a plunger.
These locations are basically glitched/underdeveloped and might not contain a Legendary pet every time. However, you can keep revisiting them occasionally until you get the desired reward.
