A new upcoming Pokemon arriving with the Teal Mask DLC was revealed, and it comes with its own sinister background story. Its name is Poltchageist, and it’s ready to haunt tea services in Scarlet and Violet.

During a surprise August reveal, The Pokemon Company decided to stage a traditional ghost story, to announce the arrival of Poltchageist, a new Grass/Ghost-type Pokemon arriving with the upcoming Teal Mask DLC in Scarlet and Violet.

The trailer story narrates the misadventures of a tea master and its kettle, and how it passed from one hand to the other until it received a life of its own, and started haunting and fixing broken objects, and feeding on the life-force of “bad people.”

In this ghost story video presentation, we can see how Poltchageist seems to be using a move similar to Absorb as its signature move, and then, using that energy to repair various objects, including tea pots and mugs. You can watch the story trailer right below.

According to the tale, Poltchageist absorbs life force from people to repair broken objects. And then flies to the next area, to keep sowing mischief with its powers.

Poltchageist is the ninth Grass/Ghost-Type Pokemon added to the franchise, and it comes with its own sinister folk-tale-style background story.

Poltchageist will arrive with a new ability called Hospitality, that heals allies’ HP when it comes into battle. For the moment, we don’t know any more details about its relationship with Polteageist and its ties to Sinisteas caught in the Kitakami region, but we wouldn’t rule that possibility out.

We will add more details about Poltchageist as soon as they are revealed, so stay tuned for more information in the near future.

In the meantime, you can check out all the new Pokemon coming to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC and also some tips to tackle the upcoming Mewtwo Tera Raid Battle event.
