Pokemon Go players share “genius idea” to get regional species missing from Pokedex
NianticGetting regional Pokemon is one of the most difficult things to do in Pokemon Go. However, some players have shared a hilarious yet clever idea to get these rare species in Pokemon Go.
The most important part of Pokemon Go is catching all the available Pokemon in the game and adding them to your Pokedex. However, some species are region-locked and they can be exclusively found in certain parts of the world. This makes it very difficult for Pokemon Go players to catch ’em all, leaving regional Pokemon uncaught in their Pokedex.
However, a Pokemon Go player’s Reddit post about missing Pokemon from the Pokedex led to some fellow fans sharing an innovative idea to get the rare regional species, and quite frankly, the community seems to love it.
Pokemon Go players use a clever trick to get regional species
When Pokemon Go player ‘Realyoshi999’ asked, “What is that one Pokemon that’s keeping you from finishing a regional dex?” on Reddit, many fellow players shared details on the one species that has been eluding them in the game.
However, this also prompted some players to share a “genius idea” to get regional species in Pokemon Go through trading.
One player wrote: “I live in Copenhagen and told my brother about Pokemon GO and how regionals are blocking me from finishing the Kanto dex. He proposed I just go to the airport (a few km away) at the arrival of an Australian flight and literally just stand there with a big sign saying “Kangaskhan” on it. The logic? People who know will know. People who don’t won’t think twice of it.”
This prompted another player to share a similar experience as their comment read: “I went on a vacation recently to Africa, and literally brought a cardboard circle, with a printed poke stop glued to each side, and then glued over that an image of the two Oricorios I wanted.”
Another added some information that makes this trick practical for fellow players: “That is actually genius. However, in the US you can’t get to a gate unless you are flying or are a worker. So you would have to stand by check-in or baggage claim.”
Regardless of which part of the airport players can access, it doesn’t change the fact that they can still come across other players who have regional species with them. So, several players are considering giving this idea a shot and one player even added, “This is a genius idea, I’m in Utah not too far from an airport. I’m seriously considering it.”
At the moment, trading seems to be the best way to grab regional Pokemon in the game. But players should note that every Pokemon Go Fest event hosts around two or three regional species among its global spawns. So you have a high chance of catching some regional Pokemon in Go Fest 2024.
